FAQ

CBD Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) – Common Ground

CBD Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q: What is CBD?

A: CBD is short for Cannabidiol, which is a primary chemical compound in cannabis and hemp. CBD is an essential component in medical marijuana and recent clinical research has included studies on stress, pain, mental disorders and nervous disorders.

Q: Is CBD Oil legal?

A: Federal law maintains that CBD is legal given that it is extracted from industrial hemp and contains less than 0.3 percent THC. Some states have fought the legalization of CBD, but as of August 2019, it is Federally Legal.

Q: Will CBD get me high?

A: Unlike THC, CBD does not cause mental impairment, intoxication or euphoric "high".

Q: Will CBD show on a drug test?

A: CBD will not show up on standard drug tests. However, Full Spectrum CBD does contain trace amounts of THC which can show up on drug tests. Anyone who is subject to drug tests should take a Broad Spectrum, Isolate or THC Free CBD product to avoid the risk of trace THC from manifesting on a drug screening

Q: What is meant by Full Spectrum CBD?

A: Full Spectrum CBD oil includes a wide range of cannabinoids that are present in the cannabis or hemp plant. Some of these include Cannabinol (CBN), Cannabigerol (CBG), Cannabichromene (CBC), Delta-8 and Delta-8 Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and some 110 other cannabinoids. Full spectrum CBD also contains a variety of plant fats and waxes, minerals, essential vitamins, fatty acids, chlorophyll, terpenoids, flavonoids, protein and fiber.

Q: What is Isolate CBD?

A: CBD Isolate is a 99%+ pure, crystalline Cannabidiol powder. It is the result of removing all plant matter, vitamins, terpenes, and cannabinoids from hemp extract. The resulting product is isolated, pure CBD.

Q: Does CBD cause weight gain?

A: Despite the number of brands advertising weight loss benefits of CBD, clinical research has shown that there is no substantiated relationship between CBD and weight. Unlike THC, which stimulates appetite through the release of the hormone ghrelin, there is no evidence categorizing CBD as either a appetite suppressant or stimulant.

Q: Will CBD Oil make me drowsy or tired?

A: While many people use CBD as a sleep aid, CBD is not a sedative. Studies show many sleep benefits of CBD, but it is highly unlikely that it will cause daytime drowsiness or fatigue.

Q: Does CBD affect mood?

A: Contrary to popular opinion, CBD is in fact psychotropic. While it does not cause intoxication, it does affect mood and mental state. CBD has been found to be effective for mental and mood related disorders. CBD should not be marketed as a cure to any disease or disorder as clinical research and trials have not been conducted to establish a cause/effect relationship.
