CBD Wholesale; Is it right for your business?
We receive a lot of inquiries about sourcing wholesale CBD from retailers and consumers alike. Can anyone sell CBD? Is it right for your business? Should I get into the CBD industry? Why do you sell through retailers instead of just online?
Don’t worry, we are here to answer ALL the questions... As a matter of fact, if you email us or comment on these blog posts, we will happily respond with solid, factual information to help you make more informed decisions. No question is too small, large, silly or complicated!
Q: Can Anyone Sell CBD?
A: Yes. Technically, ANYONE can sell CBD. CBD is an unregulated substance with very little guidance from the FDA, USDA, DEA or any other American Federal regulatory department. In other countries, the answer to this question might vary (send us an email or comment if you have questions about your country of residence).
There are no age limits - anyone who can own a business can sell CBD.
There is no required license other than your standard state and municipal business licenses and in most jurisdictions a Sales & Use Tax License.
Because of this open approach, there are tons of people selling CBD all over the world. This has led to so much innovation and positive competition, but also abuse, scams and applications that aren’t supported by science!
Ever seen CBD infused pillow cases?? We have.
Q: Is CBD retail right for my business?
A: This is a question that only YOU can answer, but.... CBD products can fit into many, many business models. For example, we have retail partners in seemingly every industry: Physical Therapy & Chiropractic, Beauty/Esthetician, Home Goods, Design, Clothing Retail, Wellness and Dental/Medical.
The questions you should be asking are:
1. Is CBD relevant to my customer base and my business model?
Example: As a realtor, selling homes; Is CBD a good cross sell? Probably not - HOWEVER - Purchasing a home is stressful, and CBD can be a super effective Closing Gift or Housewarming Gift to congratulate your buyer or seller on their new home and let them know that it is now OK to take a breath and relax a bit!
2. Do I have the information or desire to convey important information about wellness to my customer base?
If helping people achieve their wellness goals isn’t interesting to you, selling CBD is probably not going to be your forte. There is nothing wrong with that, but CBD sales is largely about helping people improve their quality of life and achieve wellness.
3. Is the brand that I am interested in carrying the right quality/fit for my customers?
Example: Shoppers at 7-Eleven are more likely to purchase a bottle of water and a pack of gum after fueling up their cars than they are to buy a $100 CBN rich sleep-aide tincture. Just like any other product, knowing your demographic, what is important to them, and whether or not you have the time to educate that consumer on the quality and value of a product will have a huge effect on whether or not your sales match your efforts!
